Each of us will participate in training to help us get the most out of our new performance management process and approach. The table below explains the training courses, who will be required to take the courses, and general timing. Specific timing will be announced when the training dates approach. Registration for all courses will be done through ELM unless otherwise specified.

Symphony

An interactive workshop where managers learn a systematic, process-based approach to managing performance.

Covers the changes being made in the performance management program such as:

  • A new automated form
  • Common review date
  • Streamlined rating scale
  • Multi-rater forms

Planning & Goal Setting

This course develops skills related to:

  • Clearly defining expectations
  • Promoting a transparent road-map to success
  • Differentiating job Responsibilities and Performance Objectives
  • Establishing SMART Performance Objectives that develop and stretch employee capabilities and better align individual performance with the organization’s strategic plan

Performance Feedback & Coaching

In this course, managers are introduced to and apply a framework for providing feedback to help employees stay on the best path for achieving success.

Instruction on how to use the ePerformance system will be provided to PM active employees in several formats:

  • through email delivery of videos and job aids
  • online “Learning Guide”
  • System User Guide

Evaluating & Calibrating Performance

This course provides managers with:

  • The framework and skill to accurately and consistently assess performance
  • Scenario-based rating practice
  • A process for calibration

Required

Training will be provided when needed for the Manager Evaluation step of the 2011 performance year.

Paying for Performance

This course provides managers with an understanding of the compensation philosophy and how to apply rewards.

Development

This course introduces the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and provides tools for employees and managers to improve their current performance and prepare for future opportunities.
